In conjunction with the United Nation’s 21st annual Conference of Parties (COP21) climate conference in Paris, the Renault-Nissan Alliance will be providing some 200 electric vehicles to ferry its participants. Over 20,000 UN participants from 195 countries will be attending COP21.
Notably, this will be the first time ever that the UN will use zero-emission vehicles as their official cars. From November 30 to December 11, shuttling delegates would be a fleet of Renault Zoe, Nissan Leaf and a seven seater Nissan e-NV200. All vehicles will be available 24/7 to transport participants to and from the Le Bourget conference venue.
200 Renault and Nissan employees, many of whom are already driving EVs, have volunteered to be part of the conference. Consisting of 200 professional drivers and volunteers, who will be on-hand to chauffeur delegates for the duration of the conference. All of them will be undergoing a rigorous training programme to prepare them for the role.
The Renault-Nissan Alliance together with French utility company EDF will work together to set up a total of 90 quick and standard charging stations. Futhermore, residual emissions will be offset under an accredited UN carbon offsetting programme.
