Nissan has released a sole teaser image of its upcoming autonomous electric vehicle (EV) concept bound for 2015 Tokyo Motor Show – and what a tease it has turned out to be with only one sentence accompanying the press release. Under the title “Together We Ride to Tokyo”, the marque claims that said concept will represent “Nissan’s future vision of car intelligence and electrification.”
The unnamed concept vehicle looks pretty compact with an illuminated version of Nissan’s V-Motion front grille. Elsewhere, LED daytime running lights are to be found along with rather pronounced front wheel arches. Also, a closer look at the base of the A-pillar reveals what looks to be a Zero Emissions badge – further proving that the concept will be an EV.
As for its autonomous aspect, the fact that Nissan has used the term intelligence in its press release could point in the direction of a car that’s capable of handling itself. Nissan has confirmed plans, via its Leaf Piloted Drive 1.0 concept project, to put autonomous vehicles on public roads by the end of the decade.
For all we know, the concept could serve as a preview of some sort to the next-generation Nissan Leaf – we’ll know for sure when the doors to Tokyo open in the near future. Watch this space.
